Compilation Licence Application Process
A member compilation licence application is made online directly through the member portal. Once all information to support your licence application is entered and you click “Submit” and pay the licence application fee, the application process is complete. No further correspondence is sent relating to your member licence application unless we require further information. A request for additional information will be sent within 30 days after your application.
For registrants making a member licence application on behalf of an already licensed firm, provided all minimum requirements are met within the application, you are authorized at that time to issue compilation engagement reports on behalf of the licensed firm. You will receive an order confirmation for the licence application which completes the licence application process.
For registrants making an application on behalf of a sole practitioner firm that has not been previously licensed or you are in the process of registering a firm, you are not authorized to commence any compilation engagements or execute any compilation engagement reports until advised by CPA Saskatchewan. A request for additional information will be sent within 30 days after your application. Conditions may be placed on your licence, as agreed upon in your application or based on additional information, as required. If applicable, further correspondence will be sent that outlines the requirements for conditions or to advise if an exemption is approved by the Professional Practice Committee.
For registrants making an application where one or more of the minimum requirements are not met within the licence application (and you are required to submit an exemption request or CPD plan), you are not authorized to execute any compilation engagement reports until advised by CPA Saskatchewan.
If you selected to pay later, you will have 30 days to provide payment for the licence application fee. Unpaid fees after 30 days may result in cancellation of your licence application.
You may access your member licence within the member portal 5 business days after application. Please email licensing@cpask.ca if you note any errors in your member licence information
Before you start the application
To ensure a seamless application process:
- it is recommended that you clear your internet browser’s cache and history and use a private window or incognito mode. If an error message displays, you will be required to login to your account again and may lose the information already entered for your application.
- it is recommended that you enter your 2024 CPD under the “My CPD” tab prior to proceeding to the online application form so that total licensing CPD hours displays in the form correctly.

- Eligible practical experience in compilation engagements within the past 5 years.
For a compilation licence, the minimum practical experience requirement is 15 compilation engagements completed within the last 5 years. Compilation engagements completed under under the previous standard (HB 9200) will qualify towards the minimum of 15. Note: CPAs are not permitted to issue a Notice to Reader compilation engagement report for client fiscal years ending after December 14, 2021.Each unique client engagement may be counted for each of the 5 years. For example, a client engagement completed in each of the last 5 years would count as 5 engagements towards the minimum of 15.
If you do not meet the minimum practical experience requirement, please complete an exemption request form. Please email your completed exemption request to licensing@cpask.ca. All exemption requests are approved by the Professional Practice Committee. For a compilation licence, the minimum requirement for CPD is 10 verifiable hours related to compilation engagements over the last 3 years.CPD related to compilation engagements may include learning activities that support technical or enabling competencies that improve or re-confirm strong professional judgement, communication skills or documentation skills. A portion of tax, management accounting or finance hours (50% or less) may be counted towards the minimum.

The CPD hours you enter and allocate toward your licence application will automatically update in your CPD log.
