CPA Saskatchewan Announces New CEO

CPA Saskatchewan is pleased to announce that Taryn Emiry, CPA, has been named CEO, effective June 15, 2026.

"On behalf of the CPA Saskatchewan Board of Directors, I'm pleased to congratulate Taryn to her new role as CEO of CPA Saskatchewan. Her proven vision and strong leadership will be a tremendous asset in both guiding and elevating the future of the profession, both within Saskatchewan and nationally, at a pivotal time," says Laurette Lefol, CPA, CMA, Chair of the CPA Saskatchewan Board of Directors.

Taryn is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business where she majored in accounting. She went on to earn her Chartered Professional Accountant designation through the legacy CMA body in 2010.

Taryn’s experience began at the Canada Revenue Agency where she was a GST and Income Tax Auditor. She worked at SaskEnergy from 2013 to 2022, primarily in Rates, before joining CPA Saskatchewan as Director, Member Services on January 3, 2023. In addition to her previous roles, she served as a sessional lecturer through Saskatchewan Polytechnic's Centre of Continuing Education from 2012 to 2023.

In her current role, Taryn represents CPA Saskatchewan on numerous regional and national committees. She also oversees key areas such as professional development, recruitment, practical experience, events, and communications at CPA Saskatchewan.

Under Taryn's leadership, CPA Saskatchewan's member services have expanded significantly, enhancing support for members and strengthening the profession in Saskatchewan. She introduced PD Connect in 2024, centralizing all of CPA Saskatchewan’s professional development in one system.

"I am honoured to have this opportunity to serve my profession and work alongside the Board to continue to lead CPA Saskatchewan into the future while upholding our mandate to protect the public. Throughout my tenure, I have truly enjoyed working with the staff, members, students, and my colleagues in Saskatchewan and nationally. I look forward to continuing to build these relationships as the CEO of CPA Saskatchewan while continuing to advance our profession in Saskatchewan and beyond," remarked Taryn on her new role.

CPA Saskatchewan's CEO Search Committee, comprised of CPA Saskatchewan Board members, evaluated a wide range of candidates over the past several months. "We wish to express our gratitude to those who expressed interest in this opportunity. The quality of candidates is a testament to the strength of our profession. I would also like to thank the Committee members for their time and dedication throughout the selection process, as there are many variables to consider when making a decision that directly impacts our profession and members," states Sharon Strueby, CPA, CMA, Chair of the CEO Search Committee.

Taryn will work alongside CPA Saskatchewan's outgoing CEO, Shelley Thiel, FCPA, until her official retirement on June 30, 2026.
